You Should Learn To Surf Now! Here's 5 Reasons Why:

1) It teaches us to go with the flow

Now let's be honest, surfing isn't always as glam as it appears to be on Instagram, I mean, with all the Wipeout's, wardrobe malfunctions and water stuffed so deep into your sinuses that it flows from your nose hours later, how could it be taken so seriously? - To be thrown into the unknown, to go through so many trials and errors, failures and success, it really puts things into perspective and after countless battles with mother nature, at the end of the day, who cares what you look like or how you surf, nobody cares and neither should you as long as you're having fun!

2) Pure joy!

You're reading this right now because surfing looks fun right? And that's because it is! We g to the ocean to lose ourselves, to revert back to child's play, to be in the moment and to let go for a few hours, plus if you catch a few good rides, that's an added bonus!

3) Community

If you surf regularly, you will start to recognise people in the line up, even on land and eventually, friendships are made and even if you surf alone, you will start bumping into people you recognize, usually calling each other into waves, giving each other confidence and sharing the stoke together! Woooo!

4) It's inclusive

Nobody owns the ocean, this is a level playing field where all those who enter the water are equal, we are all out there together in the same conditions, sharing the same waves, all there for the same reason, to surf and enjoy!

5) It's great for your mind, body & soul

Know that feeling when you are completely in the moment? No distractions, just you and what's happening there and then? - surfing is not only a great activity to support a healthy lifestyle through physical movement, but when we are in the ocean, it gives us focus and drive, waiting, sitting, looking for waves, anticipating where the best waves are breaking and then when you finally catch one, complete mindlessness, adrenalin, endorphins bursting from your brain, in those moments when your up and riding on your surfboard, nothing else matters, it's just you, your board and the wave, having the best time together!
