Where we surf

We spend most of our time at Watergate Bay, depending on the conditions.

Watergate Bay is a short drive outside of Newquay, where we have a huge beach, with plenty of space, making it easier to avoid crowds.

We are a mobile school, meaning that we have the luxury of travelling to different locations so that we can find the most suitable waves for your course.

Surfboards

We understand that we are all built in different ways and we have spent time with local shapers talking about different designs to make progression feel fun.

Our quiver is always growing, we have a beautiful selection of boards waiting for you to try and we love being able to support small, local businesses.

During your time on the course we may recommend trying different boards, maybe you haven't surfed your own board in a little while and you feel like it's holding you back or if you're looking to experiment with new boards. You can hire them daily and try out a few different shapes to find one that works well for you.

Wetsuits

We wear wetsuits all year round in the UK, here are our recommendations:

April -  May - (11°c - 15°c) 5mm / 4'3mm

June - September - (16°c -20°c)  4'3mm / 3'2mm / 2mm

September - October - (18°c - 16°c)  4'3mm / 3'2mm

We have a great selection of winter and summer suits that are going to keep you toasty, just let us know if you need one.

By Road

To get to Watergate by road, leave the A30 taking the exit for the Highgate Hill Roundabout and take the 3rd exit for the A39 towards Wadebridge & Newquay. At the Halloon roundabout, take the third exit, continuing on the A39 towards Wadebridge. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A3059, signposted to St Mawgan and the Airport. After about 1 miles turn right to St Mawgan and the Airport. At the B3276 ‘T’ junction, turn left to Watergate.

Parking

The best place to park at Watergate Bay is in the Council carpark. This carpark is cheaper and has much more space for you to get ready and pack away than the carpark slightly closer to the beach.  Use postcode TR8 4AD to find it.

By Rail

There is a branch line that comes right into Newquay town centre. Alternatively you can get to the mainline stations of Bodmin or St Austell and make your way from there. For more information visit First Great Western.

By Air

There are daily flights to and from London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff and Dublin from Newquay Airport, with local taxis and bus services available at arrivals.

Travelled over from Ireland and it was such a great couple of days, Sam & Alannah have so much knowledge and share it in such a fun and inclusive way. Learned so much and and can’t wait to go back for another!
