At Gather & Glide its all about you and we want to make sure that you have the best experience possible.

Terms and conditions 2024

The following information is relevant for all 5 day surf courses / weekend courses / Video Coaching Weekends  & Private / Bespoke lessons with Gather & Glide LTD. 

By making a booking with us, you confirm your acceptance to these Booking Conditions.

Please read the following information carefully.

Bookings

Bookings will be done via our website or online where applicable. 

To secure & finalise your booking, you must complete the booking form and agree to our terms & conditions before submitting payment for one of our surf courses. 

Once the booking form has been completed and payment has been received, we will send you a booking confirmation document via email.

It is the sole responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure that any other persons listed on the booking are aware, have read and have fully understood the terms and conditions. 

The person making the booking will also be responsible for the payment for the other members of the party when booking for more than one person. 

Please ensure that you read all of the information that we send you carefully and don't hesitate to contact us straight away if you have any questions. We have the right to cancel any bookings made. 

Payment

Our courses are very popular, to avoid disappointment, we advise booking in advance to secure your place. 

When booking a course with Gather & Glide, you have the option of paying the full amount, or a 50% deposit at the checkout.

 

Gather & Glide have the right to cancel the person’s place on the course if full payment is not received. Course reminders will not necessarily be sent.

Payments will only be taken online or via bank transfer. We do not accept payments made by American Express.

Once a payment has been made, your debit / credit card details will be stored securely in accordance with PCI - DSS compliance regulations.

You wish to cancel your booking

All cancelations should be done by the original individual who made the booking. 

If you have fallen ill, have vehicle issues or wish to cancel or postpone, please contact us straight away by email at: hello@gatherandglide.com - the cancelation will be effective from the day in which the email is received.

 

In the rare event that a course or weekend experience is cancelled by us due to dangerous surf and weather conditions, we will reschedule your course, where you will have the option to change dates or a credit note will be issued for future courses.

All credit notes will be valid for one year from the date of issue, and can be used to book a surf course, privates sessions or may be used to purchase merchandise. 

Refunds & Cancelations are as follows:

4 weeks or more from course start date = full refund, minus £20 booking fee

1-3 weeks before course start date = 50% refund, minus £20 booking fee

Less than 7 days to course start date = No refund 

Gather & Glide are not responsible for any losses, including accommodation, travel, food or fuel expenses lost due to cancellation of any kind.

Changes to your booking

We do not accept changes to bookings less than 14 days before your course start date.

Your request to change your booking must be made in writing by the party leader as soon as possible by email to hello@gatherandglide.com

You will be asked to pay an additional administration charge of £20.

Please be aware that all postponements are subject to availability, as we cannot guarantee the course you wish to book onto will have spaces.

You have to leave the course early

If you are unable to complete the course due to personal reasons or injury, we will be unable to refund the cost of the course / the costs of the service that you have not used. 

If you have travel insurance, please check with your provider to see if this is covered.

Company equipment and personal belongings 

If there is any damage or loss to any Gather & Glide equipment whilst in the individual's possession, including surfboards, fins, leashes, wetsuits, surfing boots, rash vests, you will inform a member of staff straight away to see if a member of staff can assist.

The individual will be expected to pay in full for any damage / loss of equipment. 

Gather & Glide are not responsible for any loss of personal belongings, it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that their own belongings are kept safe.

Prices listed on website

The prices printed on this web site are valid at the time of publication. Gather & Glide have the right to increase or reduce any of the prices any time after publication. Any changes will be made clear at the time of booking.

Accommodation & other websites

Accommodation providers listed on the website act as a guide only to assist in booking accommodation.

 

No responsibility is taken by Gather & Glide for booking any accommodation and cannot be held responsible for any aspect of or problems arising from accommodation arrangements.

Neither Gather & Glide or third party suppliers will be responsible for any websites and their contents. Please ensure that you read their terms and conditions and privacy policies.

Insurance

We recommend that you have insurance cover for the duration of your stay in Newquay or Cornwall whilst you are on a surf course / weekend / having private tuition with us. 

The insurance should be adequate to your needs and should cover the activities you will be undertaking during your holiday, specifically but not limited to the activity of surfing and other water sports. 

We do not check insurance policies and they are not mandatory to book onto one of our courses. However we reserve the right to request policy numbers, insurers details & emergency contact numbers from your policy.

You are responsible for indemnifying us in full in the event that we incur any losses or expenses arising out of your failure to take out adequate cover.

Photographs & video

All courses at Gather & Glide include photos and videos of you surfing for coaching purposes, unless discussed prior to the course start, via email or verbally discussed with a member of staff.

 

The images / video may be used later on our social media accounts for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to be used in any promotional materials please inform us in writing via email at hello@gatherandglide.com

Your commitment

By completing the booking form and submitting payment, you have made the commitment to abide by all decisions and adhere to all instructions that Gather & Glide staff & instructors make whilst under their supervision. This includes sea-related conditions beyond The Gather & Glide’s control, including dangerous sea / weather conditions, including flat days, fog or pollution. 

Permission is given for participant’s contact details to be entered into the Gather & Glide database and held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. This information will not be forwarded to third parties.

Personal liability

Surfing is considered to be an extreme sport and carries a level of risk due to ocean conditions, equipment and other water users. 

All instructors at Gather & Glide are fully qualified and it's our main priority to ensure our students safety and will show the utmost duty of care to all individuals in our surf lessons in accordance with our health and safety policy, EAP and NOP. 

All course and weekend participants are expected to listen and follow instruction given by Gather & Glide staff at all times in and out of the water. 

We have the right to refuse to teach / allow anyone to participate in the course if we expect them to be under the influence of any kind of substance. The decision can be made by any member of Gather & Glide staff if any person's safety is at risk and no refunds will be given. 

All clients must disclose any medical issues/ disabilities /diseases/ allergies / dietary requirements during the booking process that may impact or prohibit their participation in a surf lesson / surf course so that we can accommodate you if possible. 

You should not participate in surfing if you have any serious health conditions such as heart problems or if you are pregnant. Please seek medical advice before booking if there is anything you are unsure of.  

Participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres in a pool.

Gather & Glide assumes no liability in respect of personal injury, loss, damage or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own or its instructors. Gather & Glide does not seek to limit or exclude loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents. All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.

Data protection & cookies 

We may contact you from time to time via email with further information regarding our surf courses, news and special offers that may be of interest to you. You may unsubscribe from this service at any time by the link in the email or by contacting us directly. 

Our site uses cookies to help us remember you for when you next visit us again. However, this information gathered does not include personal or sensitive data and is used only as a tool to understand our consumer needs in order to improve and provide a better service.

Your email and contact information will not be shared to any third parties.

Governing law

These booking conditions and all matters arising out of them shall be constructed and governed according to English law.

The parties agree that any dispute(s) they may have will be exclusively dealt with by the courts of England & Wales except in relation to any proceedings brought against the company in any other jurisdiction which involve or concern, in whole part, the arrangements or the services.

Complaints

Gather & Glide LTD is committed to offering the very best in surf provision and customer service, and thus committed to effectively, efficiently, and fairly handling all complaints.

If you are unhappy with any of our surf services, then any complaint will be treated seriously, investigated thoroughly, and dealt with accordingly.

We strongly suggest that you talk in person with a member of staff if possible to see if anything can be resolved at the time. If not, please contact us immediately in writing by email at: gatherandglide@gmail within 28 days, quoting your original booking reference and giving all relevant and detailed information so that we can assist you in the best possible way. 

PLEASE NOTE: Failure to take these steps will hinder our ability to resolve any problems / investigate it fully and in consequence, your rights under the contract may be affected. We regret we cannot accept any liability for any claims which are not notified to any Gather & Glide staff / supplier strictly in accordance with this clause.
